gw is possible of remaining balanced while adding new skills. ask the factions team, they managed to create factions without breaking GW the way nf did. i woulda loved having more expansions if the factions team did them.

There's so much to fix, make better and add to GW1 which can't be done to the current game. GW2 ftw.

I would have preferred Utopia over Eye of the North but one problem needed to be addressed. The more campaigns they added the more spread out it got and so I was kind of hoping they would have the same starter area in Utopia as prophecies (with new character professions – Chronomancer & 2nd profession and new quest added to pre-searing to go with these new professions) just at one point the story deviates from the prophecies campaign like you could have followed the Ebon Vanguard instead the prince idiot. Maybe share Gwen’s fate and be captured.

If you only had the Utopia campaign you had to take that story line.

If you only had the Prophecies campaign you had to take that story line.

If you had both campaigns you have to decide which story line. Later in the game when you should be level 20 you can rejoin the other campaign bypassing the lower level stuff, much like your character does now when you go to another campaign.

This could have been done with Factions and Nightfall in that once you leave the islands you have different story lines to follow.

Guild Wars 1 was not dead yet and some major rebalancing and retiring of some skills could have brought balance back.

With GW2 coming out the community is about to become more spread out with those playing in GW1 and those that immediately leave for GW2.

For those wanting GW2 because of skill balance, I would prefer they get the balance thing correct in GW1 (just to show they can do it) before starting on a new game. Example: 3 Years, 3 campaigns and 1 expansion and as a PvE only I can see there is a balance issue, now they are all of sudden going to wave a magic wand and be balance guru's? Oh please!!!

This. I'm excited about GW2 but glad that it's far enough away. The framework of GW can't stay competitive with other games forever, it's just the way the world works. GW2 will bring our beloved game back up to the top (hopefully) without leaving behind all that we have loved about the original.

gw2 = new game = clean start. If they released another game we would have an ursan like retard crash all over again.

it would have been nice but actually don't mind. Besides just think EOTN isnt that bad and if they did release other campagins such as UTOPIA then we wouldnt have had alot of its features. Ya know how every thing that happens had a chain well if they didnt make EOTN then we probably wouldnt hav had some of the coolest updates.

To be honest im all up for gw2 but ill still play the first because i actually enjoy playing. I know its unlikely but for all we know there could be anohter campagin in progrress....99% chance theyre not making one

And what is to say that New Game wont result in another Ursan retard crash all over again. A good predictor for what is going to come is to look at pass performances.

I would have preferred they stuck with something and got it right before starting a new project.

They have hit a wall with EotN literally leaving going in circles as the only thing left to accomplish.

However I think they could have come out with a couple more expansions but they would have had to raise the difficulty level, the level cap, armor, weapon and skill potency in each to provide incentives to play them.

nothing says they are going to fix anything in gw2 from what I have seen of them working on gw1.....not sure where that magical wand is people are looking at (with the rose colored glasses probably)...

yes there are problems with the mechanics of gw which is why they are moving to gw2, however, that doesnt mean we should toss the baby out right?

More expansions to keep the players interested, and SOME information on gw2 (even hey we really really ARE working on it, really---)....

so expansions (no need for new skills or professions etc, just more content like sorrows furnace, fow, uw and even the short mox and moa quests).

PLEASE!

I'm sure GW2 will be amazing, but I still would have liked for them to release Utopia and go out with a bang before the everlasting wait for GW2.

Its hard to say without actually seeing GW 2 yet (ie, I can't compare the promise of something I haven't played yet to the experience of something I have). However, more campaigns definately would have cluttered up the GW1 too much. There is plenty of content. Anyone complaining about how there is not has either a) sped through everything or b) not really done "everything" like they claim or c) not putting this game in perspective to other video games, which usually offer a lot less content for the cost.

wit each new campaign/expansion they add
the more they break the game

u cant break a new game
gw2 does not affect gw1 in that kind of way
if gw2 sux its a failure
but it doesnt ruin sumptin that was previously good

My thoughts.

I think while they did a lot right, they also messed up a lot in GW beyond repair.

Think of GW2 as a necessary reboot for the system. Personally, I would not have minded more expansions. But this seems to be the fate of many expansions: Things either get boring, inaccessible or add up to a giant heap of dung.

I don't like 'ors' I like 'ands'.
Choosing sucks bad.

So I want both.

1. No more new standalone campaigns - too many inherent problems.

2. I don't want a quick release of an incomplete game - such as AoC and Tabula Rasa. GW2 should be more polished than GW was at release. ArenaNet has more knowledge of what their fanbase wants this time around.

3. So, that leaves giving us small tidbits of new content. Maybe at game anniversary time.

another campaign = more skills, more unwieldy, and just more of the same. GW has been taken just about as far as it can go. I just wish that they didn't announce GW2 a year and a half before it is going to be released then avoid giving the attention that is due to GW because they are so BUSY with GW2

I would of preferred more campaigns but not every six months every year is more like it.It would of been best just to introduce 1 new profession and limited variety of skill for existing professions.

The introduction of GW2 many have left the game and have given up on GW and will wait for GW2.This pretty much leaves GW abbandoned and no one cares about after all the work players who have devoted the time to their accounts.

The problem with balancing Guild Wars is that there are 1319 skills. I don't know how many different character and team builds you can make with that, but it is a lot. And no matter what they do, someone, somewhere will find a new super powered build of the month. So balancing Guild Wars is so incredibly impossible is one reason they decided to make Guild Wars 2. Not to mention every time they added an expansion, they would be adding new skills and maybe new classes, so all they would be doing is making an impossible task even harder. So I would definitely prefer Guild Wars 2.
